Texas A&M’s pursuit of 2027 five-star edge Zyron Forstall should result in a commitment from the IMG Academy standout in the coming months, already receiving a prediction to land the future star pass rusher earlier this year. However, according to Rivals recruiting insider Chad Simmons, the Aggies will contend with several blue-blood programs, including LSU, Miami, and Notre Dame.
So far, Texas A&M has landed ten commitments in the 2027 class, including four-star defensive linemen Kaden McCartney, Elijah Patmon, and Myels Smith, while Forstall would serve as the cherry on top of an already elite D-line haul in the cycle. Defense has been the focus in the 2027 class, which explains the Aggies’ push to land Forstall.

However, head coach Mike Elko’s offseason coaching changes have actually served as an advantage, especially with Elijah Robinson returning to the staff as the new defensive line coach and associate head coach after his short stint with Syracuse. According to Forstall, Elko immediately called him after making the coaching changes, assuring him that the scheme still fit his skill set.
“It was a very smooth transition when A&M had changes,” he said. “As soon as Coach Spencer and Coach Bateman left, Coach Elko set up a Zoom call and explained the defense, how he runs it and reassured me about the structure. Coach Elko is someone I trust. Coach Robinson has been great too — we’ve been talking a lot since he got there.”
Forstall will take an official visit to College Station this spring to evaluate the staff and observe them perform live for the first time. Still, the Florida native also plans to take OVs to LSU and Notre Dame, while the Miami Hurricanes, who are coming off their National Championship loss to Miami, have remained squarely in the mix.
Even with the added competition, Texas A&M remains the leader to land Forstall, who further stated in his interview with Chad Simmons that nothing has changed in his relationship with the Aggies and that he is excited to get back to College Station next month.
“I feel the same about A&M as I did before. It is easy for me to like them. It started when I saw them play in College Station. I had a great time, and since then, there has been that buzz about me and A&M.”
According to Rivals, Zyron Forstall is currently positioned as the 11th-ranked prospect, 2nd-ranked Edge, and 2nd-ranked prospect in Florida.
