No. 9 Texas A&M opens up SEC play against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon, coming off a much-needed bye week to rest up after defeating Notre Dame 41-40 in South Bend less than two weeks ago. That win, which included starting quarterback Marcel Reed throwing for 360 yards, connecting with transfer WR Mario Craver for 207 yards, has been widely regarded as a “program-defining” victory for second-year coach Mike Elko.
Still, this was just one game, and as Elko and 72% of his 2024 roster know, the SEC is unforgiving, and winning at home is crucial to keeping pace once late-season road tests cause problems. Last season, the Aggies started 7-1 and undefeated in SEC play, but after star running back Le’Veon Moss went down with an injury against South Carolina, the Aggies lost four of their final five games, including the 4 OT loss to Auburn.

Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein need to keep things simple on both sides of the ball, focusing on gaining balance on offense. If the run game fails to find its footing, Marcel Reed and his elite receiving corps have already shown the ability to produce explosive plays through the air.
On defense, keeping Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold in the pocket is key, and after the Tigers’ offensive line allowed ten sacks against Oklahoma, Texas A&M senior edge Cashius Howell and the improved Aggie defensive line have a chance to wreak havoc in the backfield.
Now, let’s get to the best part of this week’s pre-game portion! Texas A&M’s uniform for Saturday’s matchup has been revealed, as the Aggies will don the all-maroon look against Auburn, following their all-white attire against Notre Dame.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Texas A&M will wear throwback uniforms honoring the 1975 Aggie team against the Florida Gators in Week 7. Texas A&M will host Auburn on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game will air on ESPN.
