The Wisconsin Badgers have seen an up-and-down start to their season. They haven’t gotten a noteworthy win yet, while losing games to BYU, TCU, Nebraska, and Villanova, with all coming by double digits.
Coming into the season, they were a top-25 team, but have since dropped from the rankings and have yet to re-join the polls.

Their offense has been good, averaging nearly 84 points a contest, but they’ve had quite a few streaky performances. The defense, on the other hand, has been suspect.
The inconsistent performances, matched with the lack of quality wins, have Wisconsin outside of the Field of 64 currently in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology for ESPN.
Wisconsin is currently seen as one of the Next Four Out, ranking as the eighth team outside the field behind Oklahoma State, Boise State, Cal, Arizona State, New Mexico, Virginia Tech, and VCU.
There are quite a few Big Ten teams in the field, including Michigan, Iowa, USC, Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan State, Illinois, Indiana, UCLA, and Purdue. So, Wisconsin is the 11th-rated Big Ten team in Lunardi’s projection.

Of course, the Big Ten schedule will make or break Wisconsin’s resume, but it’s a big issue that they haven’t put together one quality win during their non-conference schedule with quite a few opportunities for them.
They have some work to do to get back into the field over the second half of the season.
