The Undertaker isn’t just offering advice from the sidelines. He’s actively shaping the future of Lucha Libre AAA, and now he’s finally explained what that actually means.
While appearing on Cody Rhodes’ “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer confirmed that he’s involved in AAA creative and is taking a hands-on role in how the promotion evolves. His goal isn’t to overwrite Lucha Libre traditions — but it is to change how the product feels, looks, and connects with audiences. When Cody asked directly what his role has become, Undertaker laid it out plainly.
“Yeah, helping out with creative and doing some stuff with AAA. I’m trying to—like, my vision is to almost take a step back to step forward.”
He explained that his focus is on tightening up structure and realism while still respecting the foundation of Lucha Libre. Coming from decades inside WWE, he admitted the transition into AAA’s world hasn’t been simple — but it’s one he respects deeply.
“I’m really high on the physicality and the actual in-ring stuff — and things making sense. Which is kind of difficult from where I’ve come from and then working with AAA. You know, the Lucha Libre legacy is incredible, right? The mask, the families… like you are a legacy, there are so many in Mexico. This guy has a son who has a son — the culture is so deep.”
That respect is central to his approach. He stressed that the identity of AAA isn’t being stripped away, but he does want to modernize how it’s presented to fans.
“So I don’t want to change that. What we’re trying to do is honor that — but give more production value to the product and help the storytelling get stronger.”
Undertaker also made it clear he isn’t trying to clone WWE’s formula in Mexico. Instead, he sees AAA as its own lane — one that can borrow ideas without losing its identity.
“I’m not trying to make AAA like RAW or SmackDown. I’m taking some elements of that — adding it to what they already do — and trying to make a product that everyone will want to see.”
He framed it as giving fans more variety across wrestling as a whole.
“Just like the other company. RAW, SmackDown, TNA — you want to give people different flavors. That’s what we’re doing with AAA. Different things to enjoy about wrestling.”
This is one of the clearest explanations Undertaker has ever given about his post-WWE direction, and it’s bound to divide opinion. Some fans will see this as a much-needed evolution for AAA to grow globally. Others may worry that too much outside influence could chip away at what makes Lucha Libre feel sacred.
Either way, this isn’t a casual involvement. The Undertaker isn’t visiting AAA — he’s helping steer it. And that could reshape far more than people realize.
