Three Players Ejected in Sky-Sun Game After Heated Scuffle originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
There was no shortage of action in Wednesday’s clash between the Chicago Sky and the Connecticut Sun. These two teams may hold the two worst records in the WNBA right now, but there’s no denying that both sides were playing with a lot of fire.
So much so that three players were ejected in the first half after a heated scuffle. The altercation started after Sun guard Bria Hartley delivered a hard foul on the Sky’s Rebecca Allen, who pulled on Hartley’s jersey as she hit the deck. Hartley did not appreciate the gesture and started screaming at Allen.
It was at that point that two-time All-Star guard Ariel Atkins rushed in to defend her Sky teammate. Atkins charged at Hartley, and the two had to be separated by teammates, game officials, and the coaching staff.

As expected, the referees reviewed the heated incident, and it ultimately resulted in technical fouls and the ejection of all three players involved. Depending on how the WNBA views this scuffle, it’s very much possible that all three players could get fined for their respective roles in the incident.
The game carried on after the altercation, and Connecticut took advantage by going on a 13-5 run immediately after the ejections. The Sun entered the break with a 44-28 lead.
As for Chicago, the fact that two of their players were ejected from the contest means that they now only have eight active players on the roster. It’s going to be a tough road ahead for the Sky as they look to avoid their third straight loss.
