Three-time Super Rugby Americas (SRA) champions, Peñarol have confirmed their player roster for the 2026 season. The Uruguayan roster is much changed to that from the 2025 season. The URU has opted for heavy investment in youth.
The roster comes without regulars such as Mateo Sanguinetti, Santiago Civetta, Carlos Deus, Santiago Álvarez, Felipe Etcheverry, Felipe Arcos Pérez, and Bautista Basso. The roster does, however, include the returning Manuel Ardao. He is back following Miami Sharks’ collapse from Major League Rugby (MLR).
The roster was announced without a captain for the 2026 season. The many missing names is a sign of early season rotation following a busy 2025. Changes are expected to take place during the season itself as Uruguay prepares for a busy season of international competition.
