Thunder Rosa isn’t holding her breath when it comes to a long-awaited rematch with Britt Baker—and she’s making it clear that the decision is out of her hands.
During a recent appearance on Masks, Mats and Mayhem, the former AEW Women’s World Champion was asked whether she thinks she and Britt Baker will ever finish the story that helped define AEW’s women’s division. Rosa admitted she’d love to run it back, but the power to make it happen doesn’t belong to her or Baker.
“Again, it’s not up to me. It’s not up to her. It’s up to the people above us. That’s above my pay grade. I mean, I would love to. I think it would be a good idea to close the chapter on our story and do it right. That’s what I’m saying — it’s time to finish the story. Give her another chance. It’s not me giving her another chance — I mean, for years I’ve been saying we should finish. I’ve called her out plenty of times, yes. I don’t know if it will happen.”
Rosa also floated the idea that if the feud ever reignites, it could center around one key issue: respect. She suggested that Britt might feel she has something to prove, and the unfinished business between them could be the way to settle it.
“I think it’s a matter of respect, right? Like, she might feel disrespected. She wants to get the respect back from the locker room or whatever. And who else than to beat me — to beat the respect out of me? But I don’t know.”
Fans may remember that Thunder Rosa previously called out Baker for a hair vs. hair match at AEW All In: Texas, but the challenge was never accepted. With Britt Baker having been off AEW television for nearly a year, Rosa is starting to doubt if the final chapter of their legendary feud will ever get written.
Their rivalry changed the game for women in AEW—most notably with their unforgettable Lights Out match—but even Rosa seems to realize that pro wrestling doesn’t always deliver closure.
