Australia’s Tim David wasted no time in showing his power as he smashed a powerful six on the roof of the Bellerive Oval Stadium in Hobart in the ongoing third T20I against India on Sunday, November 2. The ball soared high, and it looked like it might even leave the ground altogether.

The cinematic scene fans got to see on the fifth ball of the seventh over in the ongoing third T20I when Tim smoked a 129-meter-long six off the Indian spinner Axar Patel in Hobart. Axar tossed one up outside off, and Tim David stunned one and all with his monster hit.

The left-handed batter stepped forward and launched it straight down to the ground with incredible force, crashing onto the top of the stadium roof.

The crowd roared as the ball dropped back onto the field after a thunderous impact. Head was himself amazed at his own strike, while Axar could only smile helplessly.

Interestingly, Tim David got a lucky escape against Jasprit Bumrah in Hobart in the previous over. Bumrah bowled a fast and full delivery, and David tried to slice it towards backward point. He struck it hard, but Washington Sundar couldn’t hold on as the ball hit his wrist and dropped to the ground.

The explosive batter has already raced to 74 runs off just 37 balls and smacked 8 boundaries and 5 sixes against India. He is currently scoring runs at the strike rate of 200.

During the course of his wonderful innings, David etched his name into the record books with a blazing half-century in the ongoing third T20I against India at the Bellerive Oval. His fifty came off just 23 balls, making it the second-fastest T20I fifty for Australia against India.

The record for the fastest still belongs to the Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who smashed a 19-ball fifty in Hyderabad in 2022. Travis Head follows closely with his 24-ball fifty in 2024.

Well, Australia got off to a slow start in the Powerplay once again, managing just 43 runs for the loss of two wickets in Hobart. Interestingly, this is Australia’s joint-lowest Powerplay score in T20Is in the current World Cup cycle, equalling their 43/2 against Pakistan at the same venue in November 2024.

Shivam Dube gets the rid of Tim David

Meanwhile, David’s blazing innings were ended by the Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube. It was a full delivery on middle, and David struck it hard and flat, aiming for another six down the ground, but Tilak Varma showed brilliant awareness at long-off.

Tilak moved swiftly to his left, judged it perfectly, and took a clean catch while keeping his balance near the boundary rope, and David walked back after playing an explosive knock of 74 off 38 balls, which included eight fours and five sixes. Dube celebrated the big wicket with a double fist pump.
