Toni Nadal reveals his brutal opinion on Alexander Zverev

by

Alexander Zverev has not fulfilled his dream of winning a Grand Slam title yet.

The German ace is chasing this goal with all his might and has just played an excellent Australian Open, in which he came just one game away from entering the final. The former world No.2 had the chance to use his serve to beat Carlos Alcaraz on the iconic Rod Laver Arena, but his energy left him at the decisive moment and the 22-year-old Spaniard reached the final thanks to a streak of four games in a row.

If he continues to play like this, Sascha will certainly be a protagonist in the rest of the season and could have the chance to finally break this curse. Unlike in the past, he had a more aggressive approach in this edition of the Happy Slam and expressed a really high level for most of the tournament.

The champion from Hamburg has understood that he has to change something if he wants to beat two monsters like Carlitos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who are dominating the Major tournaments, but he still lacks something to take the last step and have his definitive consecration.

Zverev feels the pressure

The world number 4 had a very disappointing season last year and will not have many points to defend, considering that he lifted only one trophy in 2025 on the red clay of Munich. His next tournament will be the Rotterdam ATP 500, where he will try to take advantage of Alcaraz's absence to achieve a prestigious result in indoor conditions.

In a recent interview with 'Radio Estadio' on 'Onda Cero', Toni Nadal – who had welcomed Zverev to his academy in the summer of last year – explained with extreme frankness what the German player is missing: "Sascha is a very competitive player and is dangerous for everyone, but he lacks something from a mental point of view. Everyone has understood that he feels the pressure of having to win a Grand Slam title."

Alexander will have his next chance at Roland Garros during the spring.
