Tony D’Angelo hasn’t stepped foot in a WWE ring since July 15, 2025, and for months, his status has been a complete mystery.
According to Fightful Select, the NXT star was seen backstage at the November 11 NXT taping in Orlando—his first confirmed appearance around WWE in months.
Despite his extended absence from both NXT television and the WWE Performance Center, D’Angelo is still signed with the company. The original belief was that he simply took time off and wasn’t injured. Now it seems WWE might just be waiting on the right creative direction before bringing him back.
Fightful had been checking in with Performance Center staff and NXT talent over the past few months and consistently came up empty—until now. D’Angelo was reportedly backstage at the November 11 show, though he wasn’t dressed to wrestle or record anything.
“Tony D has been out of action, and we haven’t heard much of an update on him coming back of late… That changed this past week, as Tony was backstage at the NXT show in Orlando on November 11,” the report noted.
While no further details were provided, sources claimed it was rare to see him around and said people were just happy to see him again.
Previously, Sean Ross Sapp also addressed D’Angelo’s absence during his post-RAW show, saying he hasn’t been seen at the Performance Center for quite some time.
“Well, when I asked, I heard he hasn’t been at the PC lately, or hasn’t been seen by everybody else at the PC. Maybe they’re waiting for creative stuff. He’s still signed to WWE — that much I can confirm — but I haven’t heard a lot of details about where he is other than not at the PC when I’ve asked.”
D’Angelo was even advertised for a live event back in October, but ultimately didn’t appear. Still, all signs point to his return being a matter of timing rather than any deeper issue.
Tony D may be laying low for now, but his recent backstage appearance could be the first sign that a comeback is in the works.
