Ante Delija faces another big test in his sophomore UFC outing.
The UFC announced Friday that Delija (26-6) is set to fight Waldo Cortes-Acosta (14-2) in a matchup of top 10 heavyweights at UFC Vegas 110 on Nov. 1. MMA Latinoamérica first reported the bout.
Despite Delija making just his second UFC appearance, this bout has sleeper contender implications in the heavyweight division with Cortes-Acosta ranked No. 6 and Delija No. 10 in the UFC’s official rankings.
Delija recently made a successful UFC debut at UFC Paris, defeating Marcin Tybura by knockout in a little over two minutes. It was the seventh win in eight outings for Delija, a 2022 PFL heavyweight tournament champion. Overall, Delija compiled a 9-3 record in the SmartCage before signing with the UFC this past June.
Cortes-Acosta looks to rebound from a disappointing loss against Sergei Pavlovich that snapped a five-fight win streak. “Salsa Boy” has gone 7-2 since being signed off of Dana White’s Contender Series and holds notable wins over Serghei Spivac, Ryan Spann, Robelis Despaigne, and Andrei Arlovski.
UFC Vegas 110 is expected to be headlined by a featherweight bout between Steve Garcia and David Onama.
