Top 25 2027 prospect has the Texas Longhorns out front early with two other Power 4 programs originally appeared on A to Z Sports.
Long Beach Poly (Calif.) athlete JuJu Johnson recently updated his recruitment ahead of his junior season. Rivals’ Adam Gorney spoke with sources about who is in contention for his services.
“Nebraska, Texas and UCLA are the three standouts for Johnson but he’s still in the early stages of his recruitment and isn’t going to make a decision soon,” Gorney said. “He’s said in today’s NIL culture he doesn’t feel making an early commitment is the best move especially with coaches moving all over as well so others could get involved but those three have jumped out front.”
Gorney spoke with Johnson earlier this month about Texas and his thoughts on Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns program.
“Coach Sark has the pipeline,” Johnson said. “He’s from California. Just knowing he’s from out here, that’s cool. I’ve been talking to their DB coach a little bit just chopping it up.

JuJu Johnson is a two-sport star for Long Beach Poly.
Johnson was clocked running an indoor 6.92-60m and 21.32-200m in January. Then, later in the spring, he ran a 10.50-100m outdoor. On the football field he is a dynamic playmaker for the Jackrabbits’ offense.
247Sports’ Greg Biggins is a big fan of Johnson’s length and ability to impact the game from anywhere.
“Johnson is one of the most versatile athletes in the ’27 class. He could play corner, safety or receiver at the college level and is a legit high major college prospect at all three spots,” Biggins said. “He’s a twitchy athlete who has both both short area quickness and top end speed and always comes with a high compete level and toughness.

“At receiver, he runs well after the catch and is a game breaker with the ball in his hands. He doesn’t play a ton of receiver during the HS season but flashes his skill during the 7v7 circuit and is a very tough cover for opposing corners,” Biggins said. “He plays a lot of safety as well as corner and makes plays wherever he lines up. He has more of a corner frame and that’s probably where his upside is highest. He may only be 5-foot-10 but has a 77” wing and can really run.”
