WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus finally decided to debunk a longstanding rumor that has been going on since 2016.
While speaking to Inside the Ropes, Trish Stratus was asked about the rumor that WWE wanted her to face Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Toronto back in 2016, which had been a longstanding rumor.
Stratus said that was never the case, explaining people just assumed it would happen because the event was in Toronto. She also pointed out that in 2016 she wasn’t even pregnant, calling the story false and officially debunking it.
“Nope, no, no, that never was a thing. I think people just assumed it because Toronto and they’re like, ‘Oh, it’s of course it’s gonna be Trish Stratus.’ Don’t know if I was even pregnant at that time — 2016, 2016, I was not pregnant. Lies. Debunked it right here. Officially debunked.”
Fans are finally glad to know that there was no truth to the rumor that Trish Stratus was supposed to face off against Asuka at TakeOver: Toronto. Mickie James was ultimately chosen as Asuka’s opponent but it’s clear WWE had no plans to use Stratus in the first place.
