TROIA AND PGA AROEIRA TO LAUNCH REVAMPED MENA GOLF TOUR – Golf News

Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure – Portugal’s largest golf course management company – will have the honour of launching this year’s MENA Golf Tour after Tróia Resort and PGA Aroeira were revealed as the opening two venues of the new season.

The two resorts near Lisbon, part of Details’ portfolio of 12 golf courses, will launch a new ‘Portuguese Swing’ that is part of a revamped MENA Tour schedule that will also include tournaments in Egypt, Morocco and Jordan before the season reaches its finale in the Middle East.

The 2025 schedule will begin with two new qualifying schools played over 36 holes, Q Series 1 and 2, which will be held at Tróia between November 18-22.  Q Series 1 will take place on the resort’s renowned Robert Trent Jones Jnr-designed course from November 18-19, with Q Series 2 being played from November 21-22 and featuring a prize fund of $50,000.

The action will then switch to PGA Aroeira Lisboa, one of the most iconic names in Portuguese golf, for a 54-hole tournament from November 25-27. Featuring a maximum field of 102 players, professionals will compete for a prize fund of $100,000 on the resort’s acclaimed PGA Aroeira No.1 layout, which has hosted an array of high-profile tournaments including the Portuguese Open in 1996 and 1997.

Situated just an hour’s drive from Lisbon in the Alentejo region and surrounded by a unique ecosystem and an exclusive golden-sand beach, Tróia has been an established name in Portuguese golf and the leisure market for more than four decades.

Tróia’s wide range of facilities includes an 18-hole championship golf course and clubhouse, a 132-room five-star hotel, a 242-room four-star hotel, a conference centre, a spa and a variety of tourist rental apartments and private residential accommodation. In addition, there is a marina, a beach and sports centre as well as a variety of retail outlets.

A 30-minute drive from the Portuguese capital, PGA Aroeira Lisboa is the only PGA National in Portugal and features two 18-hole championship courses – PGA Aroeira No.1 and PGA Aroeira No.2.

Both layouts have undergone significant maintenance upgrades in the last 18 months to elevate the playing experience being offered to members and visitors, while further investment is set to include a new clubhouse and the completion of the €200 million Aroeira Collections by Missoni real-estate development that is set to reposition PGA Aroeira as the best golf destination south of Lisbon.

Tróia Resort and PGA Aroeira are part of the growing portfolio of golf venues in Portugal managed by Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure – with the management company’s portfolio also including Vilamoura, Monte Rei and Palmares Ocean Living & Golf. The group also manages 23 hotels across the country.
