Twenty-Four Qualify For Netherlands Team For European s/c Championships

Twenty-four swimmers have qualified to represent the Netherlands at the short-course Europeans in December following the conclusion of the Dutch Championships and World Cup series.

The final day of competition in Rotterdam saw Arno Kamminga win the 200m breaststroke by more than 2.5secs in 2:04.05 to complete the 100/200 double as he finishes the three-day event with QTs in all three breaststroke events. He’ll be joined in all three by Caspar Corbeau who became the first man inside 2mins for the 200 when he went 1:59.52 at the final World Cup stop in Toronto. Luca Janssen also made the team for the European Short Course Championships which take place in Lublin, Poland, from 2-7 December.

Corbeau will also compete in the 100IM, one of three swimmers to take on an four-event programme along with Marrit Steenbergen who qualified for the 50/100/200 free and 100IM thanks to her performances on the World Cup circuit. Tessa Giele is slated for the 50 and 100 fly, the 50 breast and 100IM. That follows her 56.53 100 fly on the final day.

In Rotterdam, Tiago Gomes made the 200 free cut in 1:45.42 to add to the 400 and 800 free while Milou van Wijk completed the 100/200 double in 1:56.28 and heads to Poland in the 50/100/200 free.
