Coco Gauff revealed that she felt like the Jessica Bouzas Maneiro match was "one of the worst" of her career and admitted that she absolutely wanted to quickly bounce back.
After ousting Solana Sierra 6-1 6-1 in her opening match of the year, the world No. 4 suffered a shock 1-6 7-6 (3) 0-6 loss to world No. 42 Bouzas Maneiro.
At one point, Bouzas Maneiro led 6-1 3-0 before Gauff managed to send the match into a third set. However, stealing the second set from the Spaniard didn't change much as the world No. 42 shockingly went on to bagel the American in the deciding set of their United Cup match.
The thing that stood out from the match was Gauff falling into her old habits and serving 14 double faults. Also, the 21-year-old won just 6 of 32 (19 percent) of her second serve points.
Two days after losing to Bouzas Maneiro, the reigning French Open champion returned to the court to play against Maria Sakkari in singles. This time, the former world No. 2 did the job exceptionally as she led from start to finish before collecting a 6-3 6-2 win.

"Yeah, I think for me it felt like one of my worst matches of my career. So I was like, okay, I felt like I was practicing well, and I'm playing practice sets well, and my first match went well. So I tried to erase it and learn from it. I don't think I was the most positive that match, so I just tried to stay positive regardless of what happened today," the two-time Grand Slam champion said after bouncing back against Sakkari.
After winningi in singles, Gauff also won her mixed doubles match with Christian Harrison against Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The United States have been through to the United Cup semifinal, so Gauff and Co. are guaranteed to get some more action this week.
