Four-star big man Tyshawn Duncan of Alexandria (La.) has committed to first year head coach Quannas White of Louisiana University at Lafayette. The 6-foot-8 Duncan announced his commitment to BIL grassroots writer Ani Umana, and we give a breakdown of what the first 2026 Rajun Cajun pledge brings to the table.
Tyshawn Duncan Eval
A big man that brings energy and toughness, Duncan prides himself as being a rim protector, play finisher and rebounder. At 6’8 with long arms, Duncan fits the frontline prototype that Coach Quannas coached at University of Houston. A little undersized at the five, but his length, mobility, explosiveness and outlier intensity more than makes up for the lack of height.
Duncan is a play finisher on the interior, a dependable lob threat, that defensively, has the ability to hedge hard and play in different ball-screen coverages. He’s relentless on protecting the rim and Duncan can see minutes right away once he adjusts to the speed and physicality of the college game.
Duncan’s jump shooting and handle have made strides but it’s not fully functional yet especially in the half court, but I think he’s going to a school and a staff that’ll work on the expansion of his game. Over time, we will see him operate in mid-post and spot up further away from the basket from time to time. That’s a couple years away, but Duncan has shown enough flashes in high school where the capabilities are there, he just has to know how to read defenses and overall improve those skills.
A major get for Louisiana and the second 4-star high school recruit Quannas White and staff have received a commitment from. Joshua Lewis, a 6-foot-7 forward from Blake (Tampa, Fla.) was the first one in April of 2025.
