UCF flips 4-star QB Rocco Marriott from JMU

by

Platte City (Mo.) Platte County four-star quarterback Rocco Marriott has flipped his commitment from James Madison to UCF, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.

Pledged to JMU since May, Marriott has seen his stock soar this fall and is now headed to the Big 12 to play for Scott Frost and Co. He’s in Orlando this weekend and chose the Knights over Missouri, which was also after his pledge.

Marriott is the No. 355 overall prospect and No. 23 QB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 recruit in Missouri.

Rivals ranks the 6-foot-3 gunslinger higher than other recruiting services. He now checks in as the No. 232 recruit and No. 16 QB in the updated Rivals300.

Marriott is currently amidst an undefeated season and is looking to lead Platte County to a state title. The Pirates are 12-0 and rank as the No. 4 team in the Show-Me State, per the Massey Ratings. They are now in the semifinals after a 46-33 win over Grain Valley on Friday. Marriott accounted for a whopping seven touchdowns in the win.

He becomes the headliner for UCF’s 2026 class, which entered the weekend outside the top 70 of the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

UCF gets major flip ahead of National Signing Day

With National Signing Day less than two weeks away, the Knights have landed one of top rising signal-callers in the nation. That could provide a late spark as Frost and his staff look to add to a class that still features just 13 total commits.

St. Thomas More (Conn.) three-star EDGE Alhassan Iddrissu has been a blue-chipper at various points this cycle and has sat atop the UCF class since he committed in June. The Modesto, Calif. native is a top-500 overall prospect.

There will likely be some more movement in the UCF class, as it now features three QB commits. Marriott joins Minersville (Pa.) Area three-star Dante Carr and Greenwood (Ark.) three-star Kane Archer. They check in as the No. 39 and No. 53 QBs in the nation, respectively. Utah is a program that’s been after Archer this fall.

UCF does have five in-state commits in the class, including Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy Charter three-star running back Kaj Baker. The class now ranks No. 65 overall, good for No. 14 in the Big 12, ahead of just Colorado and Oklahoma State.
