UConn women’s basketball star Sarah Strong is off to a hot start in her sophomore campaign, earning the 2025-26 season’s first Big East Player of the Week on Monday.
Strong averaged 21 points, nine rebounds, 4.5 assists, two steals and two blocks last week, helping lead the No. 1 Huskies in a 79-66 win over No. 22 Louisville last Tuesday and a 99-67 rout of Florida State on Sunday. She also shot 59.3% from the field and 88.9% at the free throw line across the two games.

This is Strong’s fourth career Player of the Week recognition after she earned the honor three times last year as a freshman. The 6-foot-2 forward is the reigning Big East Freshman of the Year and was named the 2025-26 preseason Big East Player of the Year.
Redshirt senior guard Azzi Fudd was also recognized by the Big East on the conference’s weekly honor roll. Fudd averaged 21.5 points, four assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in the Huskies’ pair of wins while shooting 51.4% from the field. The star guard led the team in scoring against Florida State with 23 points, 20 of which came in the first half, and she went 3-for-7 on 3-pointers.
UConn is back in action Wednesday when it hosts Loyola Chicago at Gampel Pavilion. The team begins Big East play on Nov. 30 at Xavier.
The Sarah Strong Era has begun at UConn, and it showed in Huskies’ season-opening win vs. Louisville
