The UConn women’s basketball team swept the Big East’s weekly awards for a second straight week after going 2-0 in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase.
Huskies star Azzi Fudd was named the Big East Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in her career. Fudd put up a season-high 31 points in UConn’s 72-69 victory over No. 6 Michigan on Friday, then turned around and logged 24 plus a career-high eight rebounds in Sunday’s 93-41 win over Utah. The redshirt senior shot 58.1% from the field and 68.8% on 3-pointers across the two games with a season-high seven makes from beyond the arc against Michigan.

Fudd is currently averaging career highs in nearly every statistical category with 21 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She is shooting 51.1% from the field and 54.8% from 3-point range through six games and hasn’t missed a free throw to date.
Blanca Quinonez earned her second straight Big East Freshman of the Week honor, mostly thanks to a big performance in the Huskies’ win over Utah. After playing just eight minutes against Michigan, the freshman forward bounced back with a season-high 21 points plus five rebounds shooting 72.7% from the field and 60% on 3-pointers. Quinonez is currently UConn’s third leading scorer averaging 11.5 points in 15.5 minutes per game, and she has the highest field goal percentage of any player in the core rotation.
