UFC 323 Fight Motion: Two title upsets in super slo-mo

by

For the final time in its seven-year broadcast run with ESPN, the UFC marched out a pay-per-view offering earlier this month.

Two titles were on the line at the top of UFC 323 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and both produced upsets and new champions. Petr Yan (20-5 MMA, 12-4 UFC) beat bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili (21-5 MMA, 14-3 UFC) in a rematch to reclaim the title.

In the co-feature, Joshua Van (16-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) upset flyweight champ Alexandre Pantoja (30-6 MMA, 14-4 UFC), who broke his arm just 26 seconds into the fight, to win the belt.

Along with those title fights at UFC 323, Tatsuro Taira (18-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) staked his claim for a flyweight title shot with a knockout of former champion Brandon Moreno (23-9-2 MMA, 11-5-2 UFC). And Payton Talbott (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) dominated former two-division champ Henry Cejudo (16-6 MMA, 10-6 UFC) and sent him into retirement – again.

There were nine stellar finishes on the card. Check out the UFC 323 “Fight Motion” highlights above, including Yan’s title win in the headliner.
