Sean O’Malley‘s last title win in his reign at 135 pounds was beyond impressive.
At UFC 299 in March 2024, O’Malley made his first and only defense of the bantamweight belt against Marlon “Chito” Vera – the only man to have defeated him at the time. It was an interesting rematch that looked somewhat even on paper. However, O’Malley made sure to leave no doubt on who was the better fighter, putting on a striking clinic and shutting down Vera for five rounds. It was a clean sweep with “Suga” winning 50–45, 50–45 and 50–44 on the three judges’ scorecards.

O’Malley (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) returns to the cage in the co-main event of UFC 324 (Paramount+) Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He takes on top contender Yadong Song (22-8-1 MMA, 11-3-1 UFC) in a three-round contest.
