It’s Halloween and Tom Aspinall is rocking an eye patch – but he’s not dressed up as a pirate. At least, not intentionally.
As he waited for another doctor’s visit Friday, Aspinall (15-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) leaned into his recent injury self-deprecatingly for the Halloween holiday.
“Another day… another hospital,” Aspinall wrote on an Instagram story. “At least I’m ready for Halloween.”
Unlike the large white bandage eye patch he sported immediately after the injury, Aspinall has upgraded to a professional-looking black eye patch straight out of Captain Hook’s closet.
Aspinall kept the jokes rolling when he took a subtle, light-hearted jab at the man who caused the injury at this past Saturday’s UFC 321, Ciryl Gane. Aspinall shared a meme of Gane (13-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) as Freddy Kruger – complete with the long-knifed fingers.
It’s still unclear what Aspinall’s exact prognosis is. He revealed in a recently-released video blog that doctors don’t believe the injury is serious. But here he is six days later, still patch-clad.
