Australia’s Jack Della Maddalena lost his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight title to former Lightweight king Islam Makhachev in a completely one-sided main event at UFC 322 this past weekend (Sat., Nov. 15, 2025) inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

With an unofficial Welterweight “tournament” spanning last week and this coming weekend, contenders are doing everything they can to strengthen their case for the next title shot — including Ian Garry, who returns to action at UFC Qatar on Saturday. And the Irishman had some harsh words for Maddalena following his lopsided defeat.

“Sending M&M’s and commiserations to you JDM one of the weakest title defences in UFC history,” Garry wrote on social media. “Your prep looked non-existent.”

The M&M’s jab references a moment from UFC 315 fight week, when Garry’s son gifted Maddalena a pack of peanut M&M’s, believing it was his favorite treat. Maddalena accepted them, but later claimed he didn’t like M&M’s — and even questioned whether the child was actually Garry’s son — a comment that reignited tensions between the two.

Garry also posted a video to Instagram of himself watching the UFC 322 main event in real time.

“I did not think this was going to be as easy as it is,” Garry said. “Jack looks like he doesn’t know how to fight. Look at the face of that man, he’s the champion, and he’s broken. He clearly doesn’t want to fight, coach. Throw the towel in! He’s about to cry…This is a great night for me. Islam wins. Jack loses. Leon gets sparked.”
