Alex Morono’s run in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has come to an end.
The longtime Welterweight veteran has been removed from the UFC’s active roster, according to Sherdog reporter Tom Feely. That means he has been released from his respective contract and/or the promotion decided not to extend it.
The move comes just three days after Morono’s latest appearance inside the Octagon at UFC Vegas 113, where he was battered over three rounds by heavy-hitting prospect Daniil Donchenko. Despite surviving the distance, Morono absorbed significant damage and was transported to a local hospital for precautionary scans following the unanimous decision loss.

In the aftermath, Morono took to Instagram and publicly asked the promotion for one final fight to close out his career.
“If someone makes you bleed, spit it in their face, and hit them as hard as you can,” Morono wrote. “I got to make my 24th walk to the Octagon and, as always, had the time of my life. I always go in there to win — no matter what it takes. They threw a young, hungry kickboxer my way, and we got to throw down on the biggest stage in the world. This warhorse has some miles on him for damn sure. If this was my last ride, I’ll go out with my head held high. In a perfect world, my next fight would be my last.”
That request, however, won’t be granted.
Still, Morono leaves the UFC with a solid legacy. During his decade-long run with the promotion, “The Great White” went 13-10-1 and put together a memorable four-fight win streak, earning victories over Donald Cerrone, Mickey Gall, and Matthew Semelsberger.
Known for his toughness, durability, and willingness to engage in slugfests while remaining technically sound, the 35-year-old now transitions fully into life after fighting. Fortunately for Morono, that future is already set: he serves as a broadcaster for Fury FC and is the head instructor at Gracie Barra The Woodlands in Spring, Texas.
