Steven Asplund still willing to suck Dana White’s toes after KO win
DWCS 81 winner Steven Asplund talks to MMA Junkie and other reporters after being awarded a UFC contract from Dana White for his 16-second TKO victory
LAS VEGAS β Steven Asplund didn’t want to take a victory lap β but he can’t help himself.
Over the past few days, Asplund (6-1) said he and those closest had to endure all sorts of trash talk from opponent Anthony Guarascio (3-1) and his crew. So it seems only fair Asplund might let Guarascio hear it after knocking him out in 16 seconds at Dana White’s Contender Series 81.
“That guy was an abrasive d*ckhead all week,” Asplund told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a post-fight news conference Wednesday. “I’m a fat boy, like real sh*t. I’ll own it. Yeah, titties did it again. I had so many messages from people in his camp just talking sh*t and saying I was going to die, messaging my camp, my teammates, my friends my family, ‘Bet $250 on it, blah, blah, blah.’ Then, the ugly trailer-trash-looking motherf*cker had the audacity to wink at me across the cage. OK, let’s make it a show.”
Guarascio must’ve called out Asplund’s knockout power, which struck a chord. But in the end, it was Guarascio with a frown on his face.
“Who the f*ck doesn’t have knockout power?” Asplund said. “That’s what I want to say. That’s literally all I have to say on that. It made me feel really good to be able to shut him up and then watch [pouts]. You’re f*cking 32, bro. Grow up. … I’m so sorry I’m talking so much crap on him. I’m an emotional guy. I’ve had to keep my emotions in check this whole week, dealing with all of this bullsh*t from his side. I was pretty ashamed at the way I acted after the fight. That celebration isn’t really typical of how I am or who I am. But like I said, the amount of bullsh*t I’ve dealt with him, it was kind of like, ‘Yeah, in your face d*ckhead. Have fun dealing with that.'”
If his performance and post-fight celebration weren’t enough, Asplund put his personality on full display in his post-fight interview on the broadcast, during which he pleaded with Dana White to give him a contract. How bad did he want it? Bad enough to tell the world he was willing to suck White’s toes.
“I’ll still do it,” Asplund said. “Where you at Dana? I’ll do it. Nah, I’m a big goof ball. You’re going to learn that over the next couple fights. Like I said, I’m just happy to be here.”
