UFC signs 3 hulking heavyweights to roster

by

The UFC is bulking up its heavyweight division a little.

In a day and age when most fighters need to sign with the promotion through Dana White’s Contender Series or for a short-notice opportunity, three heavyweights have inked multifight deals with the promotion straight-up, in a rare signing spree.

None of their debut fights have been officially announced at this time.

Marek Bujlo

Poland’s Bujlo (6-1) is 31 and has six first-round finishes in as many professional bouts, split with three knockouts and three submissions. His background is in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, having competed in competitions around the world and placing second place twice in IBJJF championship competition.

Max Gemenis

The most decorated competitor of the trio is Gimenis (6-1), who has an extensive grappling resume that includes IBJJF and UAEJJF championships. Born in Brazil, he transitioned to MMA in 2022 and has since become a main training partner of former UFC heavyweight and current PFL heavyweight Alexandr Romanov. Gimenis, 32, has five finishes, including four knockouts/TKOs, in six victories. His only career loss was in 2023 vs. David White via first-round TKO. All seven of his pre-UFC fights came for Shogun Fights.

Jose Luiz

Brazil’s Luiz (6-0) is 29 and has a 100 percent finishing rate with two knockouts/TKOs and four submissions. He rides a three-fight winning streak of first-round submissions. His only pro loss came vs. DWCS alum Richard Jacobi by unanimous decision in 2022.
