UFC Vegas 109 results: Matches to make for ‘Dolidze vs. Hernandez’ main card winners

by

UFC Vegas 109 went down last night (Sat., Aug. 9, 2025) inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada headlined by a Middleweight affair that saw Anthony Hernandez handle Roman Dolidze before eventually submitting him in the fourth round (see it again here). In the co-main event, Steve Erceg was able to get back on track and snapped his three-fight skid after he defeated Ode Osbourne, while Iasmin Lucindo defeated Angela Hill on all of the judges scorecards.

Winner: Anthony Hernandez

Who He Should Face Next: Reinier de Ridder

Everything is looking up for Hernandez after locking down his eighth straight win, which will easily earn him a spot or two on the rankings. Up next, a fight against de Ridder could be in order. “The Dutch Knight” is coming off a impressive win of his own over Robert Whittaker, but it wasn’t so impressive that he will jump the line for a title shot. Currently on a five-fight win streak, de Ridder would be a good challenge for “Fluffy,” and the winner takes a huge step forward inserting himself into the championship picture.

Who He Should Face Next: Asu Almabayev

Erceg was able to score some much-needed breathing room after snapping his three-fight losing streak with a win over Ode’ Osbourne. Now, the former Flyweight title-contender is hoping to use this win as elevation toward a march toward the Top 5. A fight against Almabayev sounds interesting for his next challenge. Almabayev is ranked No. 9 and is coming off a win over Jose Ochoa, his first after having his 17-fight win streak snapped at the hands of Manel Kape.

Who She Should Face Next: Gillian Robertson

Lucindo was able to get back on track following a loss to Amanda Lemos by defeating Angela Hill. Lucindo is currently tied with Robertson at No. 8 in the rankings, and she may move up to seven after her win. That said, matchmakers have to give Robertson — who is on a four-fight win streak — the chance to move up, too, so pairing them up against one another seems like a good move.

Who He Should Face Next: Austin Bashi

Fili continued his win one, lose one streak last night by defeating Christian Rodriguez via split decision. He will look to break his patter by securing his second straight win for the first time in six years in his next outing. Fili isn’t going to be fighting for a title anytime soon, and he hasn’t even done enough to get a Top 15 spot, so he has a long hill to climb if he ever wants to escape gatekeeper status. That said, a fight against up-and-coming contender, Austin Bashi, might be in order. Bashi stumbled out of the gates with a loss to the aforementioned Rodriguez, but scored his first-ever win inside the Octagon against John Yannis earlier this month.

Who He Should Face Next: Davey Grant

Matsumoto improved to 3-1 under the UFC banner with his split-decision win over Miles Johns. The rising Bantamweight contender has a ways to go before he gets near a Top 15 spot, but slow and steady is the pace he will take. A fight against Grant sounds appealing since he is 4-1 in his last five fights and currently riding a two-fight win streak. He was last seen defeating Da’Mon Blackshear via unanimous decision last month.
