UFC Fight Night 264: Daniel Marcos full post-fight interview
UFC Fight Night 264 winner Daniel Marcos talks to MMA Junkie and other reporters post-fight after his second-round submission of Miles Johns.
LAS VEGAS – Daniel Marcos wants his next fight to be against a big name in the division.
Marcos (18-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC), a rising bantamweight contender, called out veteran Rob Font following his latest triumph inside the octagon. Marcos put Miles Johns (15-5 MMA, 6-5 UFC) to sleep with a rear-naked choke during their bout at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 264 at the UFC Apex.
“I want to fight with Rob Font,” Marcos said at the UFC Fight Night 264 post-fight press conference. “I need a fight, and Rob Font is the next one. He’s very good, has very good punches, and he adapts well to what I do. I think the UFC wants a good show, and I want to enter the top 15 with that fight.”
Font is coming off a decision loss to Mexico’s David Martinez back in September at Noche UFC 2025. Prior to the defeat, Font was on a two-fight winning streak. His timetable for a return is unknown.
On the other hand, Marcos made sure to let the UFC know he’s at their disposal. The Peruvian fighter wants to get back to the cage as soon as possible, meaning, if viable, get in another fight before the year’s end.
“I’m out for only one week because I need the change,” Marcos said. “This year, I have one loss and one win, so I need to win for this year, if possible. Maybe yes, maybe no, but the next fight I’m ready for anybody.”
