UFC vet Tyson Pedro signs with PFL, set for 2026 debut after ending MMA retirement

by

Longtime UFC light heavyweight contender Tyson Pedro has signed with the PFL, he announced Monday on Uncrowned’s “The Ariel Helwani Show.” The transition marks the next chapter in the Australian’s combat sports career following his departure from the UFC last year.

Pedro (10-5), 34, competed for the UFC from 2016 through 2024 and amassed a 6-5 record in the promotion before announcing his retirement from MMA following a unanimous decision loss to Vitor Petrino in March 2024.

The move to the PFL represents a return to MMA competition under a new banner after Pedro spent the past year focusing on other combat sports pursuits, including a successful professional boxing debut in 2025, which saw him secure a seventh-round knockout. Known for his early UFC finishes and resilience through injury layoffs, Pedro has scored notable MMA wins over Khalil Rountree Jr. and Paul Craig.

Details on his PFL debut have not yet been fully announced, but the addition of Pedro adds a recognizable name to the promotion’s growing roster as PFL continues to expand its global MMA footprint into 2026 and beyond.
