UFC women’s flyweight hit with suspension after failed drug tests

by

UFC women’s flyweight Maryna Moroz won’t be seen in the octagon until at least next summer.

On Tuesday, the UFC announced that Moroz, 33, has accepted a one-year suspension after failing two drug tests from samples submitted to Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), which runs the UFC program, on June 25 and again on July 16. Moroz tested positive for meldonium, a prohibited substance in the class of hormones and metabolic modulators.

According to CSAD, Moroz provided documentation that she was taking meldonium as a prescription for medical symptoms from a licensed physician. However, Moroz didn’t properly notify the UFC or CSAD, which led to her suspension. The UFC said that, because Moroz wasn’t notified of the first adverse sample at the time of the second sample collection, both failed tests are considered one violation under the UFC anti-doping policy.

Moroz will be eligible to compete starting July 17, 2026.

Moroz (11-6 MMA, 6-6 UFC) has been on a downward spiral in her career recently, having lost three fights in a row to Jennifer Maia (2022), Karine Silva (2023) and Joanne Wood (2024).
