UFC’s Jacobe Smith patiently waiting, but hopes for next fight ASAP

Jacobe Smith wants more action, and he wants it now.

After being signed to the UFC last October after a stoppage victory on Dana White’s Contender Series, the undefeated Smith (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has made two appearances in the promotion. Both of his UFC fights came on notice, and he doesn’t care if the third comes on a full camp or not.

“I’m at a stage in my career where (I’ll take) whatever comes,” Smith told reporters backstage at DWCS 82. “No set anything. Whatever comes, I’ll be ready for it.

“… At the moment, I believe give me a fight as quick as possible. Place doesn’t matter. Also, I am being smart with money on the backend and you know, taxes is a motherf*cker.”

His debut in January against Preston Parsons couldn’t have gone much better with a 73-second knockout. His sophomore appearance in June lasted longer, but Smith got the job done in the second round by submitting Niko Price.

With two quick wins and very little damage taken, Smith is hungry for a return. He hopes he doesn’t have to sit around too much longer, but he isn’t exactly sitting around quietly either.

“I’m reaching out to my management team weekly to see what they can do to get me out there as quick as possible, Smith said. “I know my fans miss me. I’m ready to get out there and make a little bit more money for my family, so whatever comes. Obviously, I’m patient, smart, and I’m being collectively thoughtful about how fast I run my career.”

Whoever steps up to the challenge next, Smith issued a confident warning:

“Make sure you’re ready because it’s gonna be a fight.”
