Ultra rare submission kicks off prelims

In the UFC Fight Night 257 opening prelim, Satybaldiev (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) kicked off the card with a memorable moment when he tapped Diyar Nurgozhay (10-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) with the rare submission at the 2:45 mark of Round 1. The light heavyweight bout took place at Shanghai Indoor Stadium in Shanghai.

The submission marked just the fifth Ezekiel choke in UFC history. It was Satybaldiev’s first win in the promotion and only his second career win by submission.

Nurgozhay falls to 0-2 in the UFC having been finished in both fights.
