UNC was ranked No. 9 in last season’s poll but barely made the NCAA Tournament as they were one of the last four teams in. This season, the expectations aren’t as high as year ago, which could take some of the pressure off of Davis’ team early.

As for the Atlantic Coast Conference, North Carolina is one of just three teams ranked in the preseason poll. They join No. 6 Duke and No. 11 Louisville.

NC State and Virginia both received votes for the poll, missing out on the top 25.

North Carolina will be tested early in the season as they host No. 19 Kansas, and then play No. 22 Michigan State on a neutral site and No. 9 Kentucky on the road within the first month of the season.
