The Oklahoma Sooners accomplished an incredible feat, beating both Tennessee and Alabama on the road in consecutive games. And they did so with remarkable and timely defensive plays and special teams performances that were, for lack of a better word, special.
The Sooners are now right where they want to be heading into the final two games of the season. They have the opportunity to play their way into the playoff. Win and they’re in. Losing either of their final two games and OU’s College Football Playoff hopes get a lot murkier.

It starts this week with a home game against Missouri, a team that the Sooners were leading in the final few minutes but were beaten when backup quarterback Drew Pyne made big-time throws to Luther Burden and Theo Wease before a Jackson Arnold fumble turned into a Missouri touchdown and the game-winner.
It was literally the one that got away.
The Sooners are 8-2 with a shot at 10 wins for the second time in Brent Venables’ tenure as head coach. But they’ll need to find some answers on the offensive side of the ball to complement a defense that’s playing great in 2025.
With Week 12 in the books, how does the ESPN matchup predictor see the rest of the Sooners’ 2025 schedule playing out? Here’s an updated look at the game-by-game predictions.

Oklahoma Sooners Control Their Own Destiny
The Oklahoma Sooners have played themselves into the College Football Playoff discussion with their wins over Tennessee and Alabama. If they can close the regular season with wins over Missouri and LSU, the Sooners will be in the playoff. They will have won five games over AP Top 25 opponents this season, which would give them as strong a resume as anyone in college football.
