The Oklahoma Sooners came out of the gates a little sluggish in their Week 1 matchup with the Illinois State Redbirds. But it didn’t take long for Oklahoma to find a little life on offense and rolled to a 35-3 win to open the season. There was a lot to like about the Sooners’ performance, even if the margin of victory wasn’t as much as many thought it would be.
Ultimately, the Sooners walked away with a convincing 32-point win with a vanilla game plan on both sides of the ball. Next up will be a much more significant test against Bryce Underwood and the Michigan Wolverines.

The Sooners are expected to be a bit healthier along the offensive line in Week 2 than they were in the opener. The Oklahoma offensive line will be critical to their success against what should be a good defensive front seven for the Wolverines.

Oklahoma still projected to go 5-7
After Week 1, the computers still don’t have a lot of love for the Oklahoma Sooners. A win over Michigan would change the perception for the Sooners in 2025. All they have to do is keep winning.
