LAS VEGAS – Uros Medic gave a rare admission for a combat sports athlete after his UFC Fight Night 264 win.

Medic (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) felt he might’ve been out of his depth entering Saturday’s welterweight bout with Muslim Salikhov (22-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC) at the UFC Apex. Then he stepped into the octagon and scored a 63-second knockout.

Salikhov is one of the most experienced fighters in the UFC, and Medic said that was daunting mentality ahead of fight night. He knew his only choice was to venture into the unknown, however, and he did just that with a definitive finish.

“I really was super scared of this opponent specifically because of how much background he’s got,” Medic told MMA Junkie and other reporters post-fight. “He’s probably got 1,000 fights. He’s been fighting his whole life. He’s older than me. He’s probably got more years fighting than I have years, and that’s a scary thing. So I was really scared.

“I just tried to calm myself down and tell myself, ‘There is no bravery without fear, this no courage without fear. You have to push through the fear. You will come up on the other side better regardless of the result. You will come up better.’ I didn’t focus too much on the result. I just kept my hands up, stayed my mind sharp and the finish was right there.”

Medic, 32, opened his 2025 campaign with a 31-second knockout loss to Punahele Soriano. He’s since turned it around with back-to-back 63-second knockouts, bringing his his total fight time for the year to just over half a round.

His year might be done, but said if the promotion wants him back for one more, he’ll gladly accept.

“If they want to see me again (this year), I’ll fight again, no problem,” Medic said. “If they have a different plan and want to see me at the beginning of the year, no problem. Whatever the timing is, I will be ready. I will show up and I will show off again and will come fight as hard as I can.”
