USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll: Alabama’s ranking after Florida blowout

by

The Alabama Crimson Tide are trending in the wrong direction as they edge closer to the midway point of the 2025-26 SEC men’s basketball schedule.

Alabama (14-7 overall, 4-4 conference) was blown out in a 100-77 loss to the Florida Gators at O’Connell Center in Gainesville on Sunday. A little more than a week after Florida coach Todd Golden guaranteed a win over the Crimson Tide, the Gators made sure to deliver.

Alex Condon scored 25 points, Thomas Haugh had 22, and the Gators finished with an astonishing 72 points in the paint to hand Alabama its most lopsided loss this season. Florida has now won five straight against the Tide dating back to March 2024. The Gators’ average margin of victory in that stretch is 16.4 points.

Charles Bediako, whom Florida fans greeted with chants of “G League Dropout,” was held to six points and seven rebounds before fouling out. Aden Holloway led Alabama with 19 points, but SEC leading scorer Labaron Philon was held to 14 points, his fewest in SEC play. The Gators forced 18 turnovers by the Tide and committed only two.

Alabama will return to action Wednesday against first-place Texas A&M. In the meantime, here’s where the Crimson Tide appear in this week’s USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
