The Alabama Crimson Tide will make their fourth road trip of the 2025 college football season when they visit the South Carolina Gamecocks at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia for a mid-afternoon kickoff in Week 9 SEC play Saturday.
Alabama (6-1 overall, 4-0 SEC) is ranked No. 4 in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll. Coach Kalen DeBoer’s team won its sixth in a row with a 37-20 shootout over the Tennessee Volunteers in the annual Third Saturday in October rivalry last week.

Heisman hopeful Ty Simpson threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns while completing 19 of his 29 passes against Tennessee. Ryan Williams (five catches, 87 yards) and Germie Bernard (five catches, 87 yards) had big games, and Rico Scott and Miami transfer Isaiah Horton had clutch touchdown catches, as well.
South Carolina (3-4) lost 24-6 to Oklahoma last week. The Gamecocks struggled to protect quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who was sacked six times and held to 124 yards passing. South Carolina has dropped four of its five SEC contests entering Saturday.
Who has the edge? USA TODAY Sports’ prediction for Alabama vs. South Carolina football
On Thursday, USA TODAY Sports’ team of college football experts unveiled their weekly picks and predictions for every top 25 team in Week 9, including Alabama and its game against unranked South Carolina.
“There’s a full slate of games on tap in college football this weekend. With only three ranked teams in an open date, there are 19 games involving teams in the US LBM Coaches Poll rankings for our panel of pickers to consider.
“Of course, this also means there aren’t many matchups of ranked opponents. There are in fact only three, and not surprisingly they’re all in the SEC. No. 3 Texas A&M puts its unblemished record on the line at No. 19 LSU, No. 8 Mississippi heads to No. 11 Oklahoma, and No. 12 Vanderbilt plays host to No. 14 Missouri.” –Eddie Timanus.
The six-man panel of Timanus, Paul Myerberg, Matt Hayes, Blake Toppmeyer, Erick Smith and Jordan Mendoza all see the Crimson Tide beating the Gamecocks Saturday.

What is Alabama football’s series history vs South Carolina?
Alabama is 7-3 in head-to-head meetings against South Carolina since the Gamecocks joined the SEC in 1992. In that time, the Crimson Tide have played South Carolina the fewest times of any SEC opponent aside from Missouri, which joined the conference in 2012, and more recent newcomers Texas and Oklahoma.
The Tide hold a 14-3 lead in the all-time head-to-head series against the Gamecocks dating back to the first meeting between the schools in 1937. Alabama’s most lopsided win in the series (since 1992) was a 48-7 victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium in 1992. South Carolina’s most lopsided win over the Crimson Tide was a 20-3 victory on Oct. 2, 2004 in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama is 4-2 in games at Williams-Brice Stadium, including its last visit there in the Tide’s SEC opener on Sept. 14, 2019. South Carolina has pulled two upsets of Alabama in Columbia, 37-36 in 2001 and 35-21 in 2010, when Nick Saban’s team was ranked No. 1 on Oct. 9, 2010.
