USC basketball teams have mixed day as men win, women lose

by

Sunday was a busy day for USC basketball, with both Trojans teams on the road. The Women of Troy traveled to Ann Arbor to face No. 7 Michigan, while the men’s team headed to Madison to take on Wisconsin.

The women’s team gave Michigan a tough battle, taking a five-point lead into the fourth quarter. However, the Wolverines outscored the Trojans 20-9 in the final frame to hand USC a 73-67 loss, dropping the Women of Troy’s record in the month of January to 1-6.

The men’s team, on the other hand, went on the road and pulled out an impressive 73-71 victory over a Wisconsin team that had won five in a row. The Trojans trailed by 12 in the second half before closing the game on a 27-13 run.

Sunday’s results continued the overall trend of this basketball season at USC. The men’s team has largely performed above expectations, while the women’s team has been a bit of a disappointment.

The men are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Iowa. The Women of Troy, meanwhile, return to Galen Center to host Iowa on Thursday night.
