The USC men’s basketball team has certainly had to deal with more than its fair share of injuries this season. Five-star freshman Alijah Arenas has yet to appear in a game for the Trojans, and now highly-touted Maryland transfer Rodney Rice is out for the season with a shoulder injury.
Following Sunday’s victory over Washington State, head coach Eric Musselman mentioned the possibility of a midseason addition to the roster. On Thursday morning, the Trojans did just that, bringing in Robert Morris transfer Kam Woods. He will be eligible to play immediately for USC.

The Trojans will be Woods’s sixth different school in six seasons of college basketball. After leading Robert Morris to the NCAA Tournament last season, he entered the NCAA transfer portal, but never signed with another school. With USC in need of depth, however, the Trojans called him up, and now he will be joining the team.
Woods actually does have some familiarity with USC’s roster. At Robert Morris last season, he was teammates with Amarion Dickerson, who transferred to USC during the offseason and has appeared in eight games for the Trojans on the year thus far.
USC will close out its nonconference slate with a game against UC Santa Cruz on Sunday afternoon. The Trojans will then get some time off before resuming Big Ten play in early January with road games against Michigan, Michigan State, and Minnesota.
