Fenner’s departure adds to a growing list of losses for USD, which is also moving on from its starting quarterback, Aidan Bouman, due to graduation and has already seen standout All-American sophomore running back L.J. Phillips Jr. enter the transfer portal. With their quarterback and top-two offensive playmakers now gone, the Coyotes enter the offseason tasked with a major reload on offense.
Fenner garnered second-team All-America accolades from FCS Football Central and second-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2025.
In 15 games this season, Fenner became the first Coyote in the Division I FCS era to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a single season, finishing with 1,001 yards on the year. The Independence, Missouri, native also posted five 100-yard receiving games on the year, with South Dakota going 5-0 when he reached that mark.
The 6-foot redshirt sophomore had a South Dakota single-season record 15 touchdown receptions, the first Coyote in the FCS era to have double-digit receiving touchdowns in a season. Fenner had at least one reception in each of the 15 games played this year, including his first-ever collegiate catch going for a 6-yard score against Iowa State to open the season.
