UVA basketball is releasing a docuseries, and it looks awesome.

Football season is about to take center stage for the Virginia Cavaliers, but it’s never too early for a little basketball content. And with the new era beginning with Ryan Odom now captaining the ship, there already seems to be a more modern feel to the program with what the ‘Hoos are doing on and off the court.

For a while now, UVA’s basketball social accounts have teased a new behind-the-scenes docuseries “Proving Grounds – Preseason with Virginia Men’s Basketball.” And so far, the trailers have looked spectacular.

The series is set to release new episodes each month leading up to the beginning of the season in November, with the first episode already looking like a banger — from Ryan Odom speaking on the readiness of this year’s team, Thjis De Ridder talking about his goal of getting to the NBA, and Malik Thomas lifting the big-boy weight of what — from my math — looks to be 445 pounds on the trap bar.

With the ‘Hoos breaking in a new coaching staff and nearly an entire new roster, it’s easy for fans to feel distant from a program that has been accustomed to having the same faces for three or four years. The media team clearly understands that and looks to be building the perfect bridge between the countless new players and coaches and the rabid fanbase that is anxious to see just how good this team can be.

The first episode is set to release on Thursday, August 21st, at 6:30 P.M. and can been seen on UVA’s athletics website, every Virginia Sports social account, as well as the local FOX affiliate throughout the Charlottesville area.
