by

Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar has been advised to bring youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi into the senior Indian side, as Rajasthan Royals Director of high performance cites the star as possessing the ability to do something special.

There have been several suggestions handed to Ajit Agarkar on the selection of Indian cricketers; however, the latest suggestion from the Rajasthan Royals director, Zubin Bharucha, has taken all by surprise.

Despite so many legendary as well as young cricketers lined up for a spot in the Indian playing XI, he has called for the inclusion of the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, claiming that he possesses some talent different from others.

This claim sidelines the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and many such players who have been tiring themselves for this role in the Indian side much longer than Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s unmatched dominance in 2025

Ever since his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Rajasthan Royals earlier this year, the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has gone on to be a household name. He smashed the fastest-ever century by an Indian in the history of the tournament, having scored the century off just 35 balls.

Later in the youth ODIs against England, he went on to score the fastest ever century in youth ODIs earlier this year. It is also worth mentioning that the youngster made his first-class debut at the age of 12 and came to the limelight with a century against Australia in the U-19 Youth Test.

The hundred had led him to bag a contract of INR 1.10 Crores for the Royals. He went on to feature as the youngest ever player in the history of the Indian Premier League.

The Rajasthan Royals’ Director of High Performance, Zubin Bharucha, has asked the chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, to consider bringing in Vaibhav Suryavanshi when it comes to selection for the senior team. He claims that the Bihar batter can produce something special for the country.

“He should be blooded into the senior team immediately, like Sachin was all those years ago,” Bharucha told the Times of India, drawing comparisons between the young left-hander and the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

“They have to blood this guy immediately, boss, because he is in another zone only. At least send him on an India A tour. Send him to India A immediately. I’m telling you, this Australian attack that is here, bowling to India A guys, he would have got a double hundred,” he added.

Bharucha recalls how Suryavanshi smashed Jofra Archer in the Rajasthan Royals nets

Zubin Bharucha recalled how the 14-year-old lad went on to smash the lethal England pacer Jofra Archer when he first bowled to Suryavanshi in the nets during a Rajasthan Royals training session in the IPL 2025.

He further went on to say that the left-hander showed no signs of being at sea as he played against the fast bowler with sheer confidence.

“He smoked Jofra Archer in the nets. Jofra Archer, when he bowls in the nets, he’s a demon. He never bowls a warm-up ball when the batter is there. He absolutely charges in. And actually, Jofra Archer knocked off Steve Smith’s head in a practice session we had before the Ashes. Smith was struggling against him. From that day onwards, he never went inside the net when Jofra was bowling,” said Bharucha.

“When he was bowling to Vaibhav, I was scared, and this boy hit one shot on the back foot, and it went out of the stadium. All the coaching staff, even Jofra, were stunned,” he added.
