Vanderbilt coach Shea Ralph played at UConn and served as an assistant there from 2008-21 before taking the head coaching job for the Commodores. She both played for and worked under longtime head coach Geno Auriemma. The Huskies won the 2025 national championship and are currently ranked No. 1 in every poll.

No. 4 Vanderbilt and UConn are the last two remaining undefeated teams in women’s basketball this season, both sitting at 19-0. The Huskies are projected to be the top overall seed in the NCAA tournament, while the Commodores are projected as a No. 2 seed.

“I am so excited for this opportunity to compete against UConn and to return to the place where this journey began for me,” Ralph said in a release. “It will be special to see the fans, coaches, administrators, teammates and friends who have been part of my journey. Our mission at Vanderbilt is to compete for championships and this series will serve as another opportunity to prepare us for those goals.”
