Bianca Andreescu completed her outstanding week at the ITF W75 Vero Beach with another straight-set win after beating You Xiaodi 7-5 6-1 to claim her second title of the year.
The Canadian, who was seeded at No. 6 in Vero Beach, blew an early first-set break but registered another one in the 11th game before closing out the opener on her serve.
While You managed to hold to her serve at the start of the second set, Andreescu still easily got the job done in two sets after winning six consecutive games.
When the 2026 season started, Andreescu was ranked at No. 228 in the world. However, since winning ITF titles in Bradenton and Vero Beach, as well as reaching the ITF Weston semifinal, the 2019 US Open champion has improved 66 spots and now sits at No. 162 in the world.
Andreescu's early-season move pays off
After concluding her 2025 season on a three-match losing streak, Andreescu's ranking was all but good enough for her to directly make the Australian Open. The former world No. 4 entered the Australian Open qualifying, but instead opted against traveling to Australia. Instead, the 25-year-old decided to switch to the ITF level and try to gain some wins and momentum.
And now, a month into the new season, Andreescu has two titles under her belt and has a 13-1 record in 2026. Also, as mentioned above, the Canadian has already seen her ranking improve.
Although her current ranking of No. 162 in the world still isn't good enough for the 2019 US Open champion to directly enter the main-level tournaments, she has finally found some form and may try her luck through qualifying on the WTA Tour. It should be noted that there is always a chance the Canadian gets a main draw wildcard for some of the upcoming events.
One thing is for sure – wherever Andreescu decides to play next, she will hope to continue with her strong start to 2026.
