Vidal Bruján claimed off waivers by Twins

MINNEAPOLIS — The Twins added some more infield depth on Wednesday when they claimed off waivers from the Braves.

Bruján has appeared at every position but catcher in his Major League career, but the large majority of his starts have come in the middle infield. He turns 28 next month.

A former top-50 overall prospect in the Rays organization, Bruján is a lifetime .199/.267/.276 hitter in 645 Major League plate appearances. He hit .253/.305/.310 last year, spending time with the Cubs, Orioles, and Braves.

Bruján joins a utility mix for the Twins that includes Kody Clemens, Ryan Kreidler, and non-roster invitee Orlando Arcia. Luke Keaschall and Brooks Lee currently project as the starting second baseman and shortstop, respectively, for Minnesota, but both come with defensive questions.
