We witnessed a very scary “holy sh*t” moment Friday when UFC 324 fighter Cameron Smotherman fainted and faceplanted hard on stage during official weigh-ins.
You could tell from close-up shots of Smotherman on the scale that he struggled to cut down to the bantamweight limit – which he officially made it under at 135.5 pounds. Unfortunately for UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping working the TNT Sports weigh-ins from inside the building, he was facing a camera with his back to the stage where Smotherman was weighing in..

Otherwise, we might not have gotten a most unfortunate instance of terrible timing, in which Bisping, just as Smotherman stepped on the scale, had this to say: “I never have any sympathy for these guys. You’ve got one job: Show up, on weight, in shape. You’re a professional fighter. It’s not hard is it?” Right then and there, BOOM! Smotherman collapsed on stage.
You can watch the awkward moment in the video below (H/T Happy Punch):
Smotherman was scheduled to fight Ricky Turcios on the preliminary card of UFC 324, but the bout was canceled after Smotherman was carried off stage and transported to a local hospital. As of this writing, we don’t have an update on his condition.
