Jay Wright remains a Villanova legend.
And it’s the Wildcats for whom he just made a major career announcement.

Wright announced via social media on Thursday that he’s pulling away from his full-time broadcasting job.
He’ll instead keep his focus on his job as the special assistant to Villanova’s president.
This is the full announcement from Wright:
“After three amazing years with CBS Sports and TNT Sports, I’ve decided to step back from full-time broadcasting. It wasn’t an easy call, but it allows me to focus on my role as Special Assistant to the President at Villanova – and to spend quality time with my family.
“Huge thanks to the CBS Sports and TNT Sports teams. They’re truly the best in the business. I’m grateful for the incredible experiences and friendships.

“I look forward to staying connected and collaborating with them on future projects.”
Wright is certainly missed on the sideline at Villanova.
He led the Wildcats to two national titles.
But since Wright left, Villanova hasn’t made the NCAA Tournament. Kyle Neptune went 0-for-3 before he was ousted.
The Wildcats hired Kevin Willard from Maryland for the season ahead, and he’s got a big task to try and get Villanova back to national relevance.
Wright doesn’t seem interested in getting back to coaching at the moment. He was briefly linked the Knicks’ job opening when Tom Thibodeau was fired, but there were never any legs to that.
Now, he’s focused on the next chapter of his life.
