Over the last few weeks, we’ve heard of college football players from around the country either announcing their intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal or how they plan to “run it back” in 2026. Several Virginia Tech Hokies have announced their plans to return for 2026, while others have entered the transfer portal.
The transfer portal officially opened on Friday. More Hokies revealed plans to enter, while other players scheduled visits to Blacksburg for the weekend. But, new coach James Franklin got some good news when safety Quentin Reddish revealed on X that he was coming back for 2026.
The rising junior is a former 4-star recruit from Charlotte, North Carolina, who played in all 12 games as a freshman in 2024. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Reddish drew attention from other teams last offseason, but didn’t entertain leaving Blacksburg. He started the first three games of this season before an injury shortened his year. He finished with 15 tackles and one interception.

Reddish’s return is significant for next season. Former head coach Brent Pry is now Virginia Tech’s defensive coordinator, which likely helped convince Reddish to return. There were some questions about Reddish’s future once Pry was fired, and he was lost for the year. He had one brother (Joe) on Virginia Tech’s roster last season, but he recently entered the transfer portal. A younger brother, Nick, will be a freshman at Notre Dame next season.
With Reddish back in the fold, that’s one less concern for the Hokies this offseason.
